“There was a relative of Naomi’s husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.” Ruth 2:1
How easily we can pass over Scripture without giving it much thought. From this one seemingly insignificant verse comes a well of deep assurance – hidden between the lines and the names mentioned springs an incredible story of love and hope.
The scene opens with Naomi – aged, widowed, and destitute – returning to a land and people that once held her heart. But the story is not about her.
A BRIDE-TO-BE
Accompanying Naomi is her young and widowed daughter-in-law, Ruth, a Moabitess, whose whole-hearted desire was to know Naomi’s God.
Little does Ruth know what Naomi’s God – now her God – has in store. His name is Boaz, and he loved God. Boaz’s life was already blessed, but little did he know that the Lord had prepared Ruth for him as a reward for his faithful obedience. Boaz met Ruth and from that moment on would not rest until she had become his. He used every bit of his power and influence to make her his bride. PRECIOUS AND DESIRED The name Boaz means strong one or the one who is able. What a beautiful picture of our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ! Jesus is the Strong One who is more than able to provide and care for you. It is you that He desires and He wants to be your everything!” So dear reader, do not frustrate the love of God by resisting Him. Go to your Bridegroom now and humble yourself before Him. Say to Him, “Lord, I am completely yours, today and forevermore.”
Awaiting His Gathering,
コメント
